'Micro credits for Mothers' is a Dutch foundation that provides women in Asia with small loans. The loans allow for investments with which these women can obtain a sustainable way to make a living.
By doing this, women have an opportunity to improve the quality of their lives, and those of their children. Why women? The majority of poor people are women. Moreover, not only the women benefit research shows that women invest in their children and communities. We also provide coaching and advice on how to set up or improve their businesses.
We do not give them fish; we lend them money and teach them how to fish.
Our guiding principles:
-
All donations allocated 100% to loans for women.
- Each loan after pay back re-invested in a new loan for another mother.
- All volunteers and board members of the foundation work 100% free and receive no compensation whatsoever for their efforts.
Some business plans that Micro credits for Mothers helped to realize. Support us, to help them!

Ingredients for sausage rolls
Ponh Oeurm is a hard worker. She already managed to start a business - she is selling ice cream. She has a husband, five children, and an ice cream cart. She now wants to expand and add sausage rolls to the menu with she expects to double her revenues. Meat, the main ingredient, is expensive and she uses her micro credit to buy that. The sale of sausage rolls is a cash business and she thus wants to start repaying the loan after one month already..

Breed pigs
Bun Hon and her husband will start to breed pigs together with Mok Rum. They both want to buy two piglets, fatten them for six month and then sell them. One of them is an experienced pig breeder and the other one wants to learn from her. They expect to pay for food and possible medical expenses from existing revenues, which they generate from weaving fabrics that they sell to PTD. In six month's time, they pay back the loan for two pigs and building materials to construct a shed. The exact amount to pay back depends on the selling price of the pigs. Standing agreement is that they use at least half of the selling price to buy new pigs.

Stove and ingredients
These two women are expert cooks of Sri Lankan snacks like indiappa (steamed noodles rolled into balls), vadai (deep fried, spicy cookies), and shrimp cookies. They vend these snacks on the street at bus stations and in the market. That is, that is what they used to do before the tsunami took their livelihood. Both of them applied for a 50 euros loan to purchase necessities such as a stove, pans, basket, and ingredients.
